Doppel is for adults only.
These are the published child safety standards of Doppel Ltd for the Doppel social app (iOS and Android) and doppel.dating. They set out our zero-tolerance position on child sexual abuse and exploitation, how anyone can report a concern, what we do when they do, and who is responsible. They apply to every member, every piece of content, and everyone who works with us.
1. No one under 18
Doppel is an adults-only service. We collect a date of birth at sign-up and refuse registration to anyone under 18. We may add further age assurance. A member who is found to be under 18, or to have lied about their age, is removed immediately and their data is deleted. We do not knowingly allow any minor to hold an account, appear in a profile, or take part in a conversation.
2. What is prohibited
The following are banned outright and are treated as an emergency, not a rules question:
- child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind, including drawn, generated or written material that sexualises a minor;
- any sexual, romantic or suggestive contact with, or approach to, anyone under 18, or anyone presenting as under 18;
- grooming, including building trust with a minor for a sexual purpose, and any attempt to move a minor to another platform;
- sextortion, and any request for, or sharing of, sexual images of a minor;
- trafficking or the facilitation of child sexual exploitation; and
- advertising, linking to or seeking any of the above.
3. How to report
- In the app: every profile and every conversation has a Report option. Choose "Someone under 18" or "Child safety" as the reason. The report reaches our team directly and the reported person is not told.
- By email: hello@getdoppel.app with the subject "Child safety report". Anyone can use this route, whether or not they have a Doppel account.
- In the UK, you can also report directly to CEOP (part of the National Crime Agency) or to the Internet Watch Foundation. If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.
4. What we do
- Prevention. Age gating at sign-up; profile photos reviewed against our rules; content related to self-harm and eating disorders excluded from processing; no public browsing of profiles by people who are not signed in.
- Priority review. Child safety reports go to the top of the queue. We aim to act on them within 24 hours.
- Removal. We remove the content and permanently remove the account. There is no appeal for confirmed CSAE.
- Preservation and reporting. We preserve the relevant records securely for law enforcement and report confirmed CSAM to the National Crime Agency (CEOP) in the UK and to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) where United States law applies, in line with our legal obligations. We do not keep CSAM beyond what is needed to report it.
- Cooperation. We respond to lawful requests from police and child protection bodies promptly, and we work with the Internet Watch Foundation and similar organisations where their tools can help us detect known material.
5. The law we follow
We comply with the laws that apply to us, including in the United Kingdom the Online Safety Act 2023, the Protection of Children Act 1978, the Sexual Offences Act 2003 and the Criminal Justice Act 1988, and with the child safety policies of the Apple App Store and Google Play. Where we operate outside the UK we also comply with local law, including reporting duties under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A where they apply.
6. Who is responsible
Doppel Ltd has a designated child safety point of contact, a director of the company, who is responsible for these standards, for handling CSAE reports and for our reports to the authorities. 7. Review
